Transformers Review: Blast Off (FOC Deluxe) – Part 2 of 6 – Bruticus

Intro:
From Onslaught, we move on to the second member of the Combaticons – Blast Off.
Blast Off is probably the loneliest of the lot. Having to execute missions high above the atmosphere leaves him feeling isolated and alone, but nonetheless he is one deadly and ruthless warrior that will never hesitate in destroying his opponent, true to his motto – I destroy Autobots by choice, not command.
The box officially states him as Part 2 of 5, and him being the right hand of Bruticus.
His Tech Specs give him a full 10 on Speed and Fireblast, so that definitely puts Blast Off as one of the heavy hitters of the team.
His characterization looks promising enough, so now, let us get on with the review.

Alternate Mode:
Officially, Blast Off’s alternate mode is called a Cybertronian Rocket Plane, although he does vaguely resemble a space shuttle, albeit a Cybertronian one.

He is overall blue in color with patches of black, silver and yellow all over. I actually like this mode; he’s simple yet definable, unlike his leader, Onslaught.
Again, he feels rather hollow, and there’s kibble as well – you could clearly see his head underneath.
In this mode, Blast Off wields a pair of X-ray laser blasters that can be mounted on both wings.
Overall, I kinda like this mode.

Robot Mode:
The robot mode looks awesome and Blast Off really looks like he means business. I really like how the shoulder “pads” look because they really inject that regal look to him.
Articulation-wise: the head rotates 360°; the shoulders are on ball joints and hinges that allow all around motions; the elbows are on ball joints and hinges as well; the hips are on universal joints; the legs rotate slightly below the hips; and finally the knees bend as if they are double-jointed.
In this mode, he wields his pair of X-ray blasters in his hands. His articulations are quite good, although I am of the opinion that the shoulders are designed a little bit awkwardly.
Also, just like his other brethren, Blast Off’s robot mode can feel a bit hollow, but overall he looks great.

Overall:
Overall, I think Blast Off’s great and he is definitely one of the better ones amongst the Combaticons.
            Definitely recommended.

            Final verdict: 8.5/10.
