Hello there fellow Planeteers and Cybertronians,
Welcome back to The Planet's Journal, and continue with our tour of Penang, the Pearl of the Orient, we will pay a visit to what is touted by the Malaysia Book of Records as the LARGEST and COSTLIEST Toy Museum in the world!
Now that's a huge claim, if you ask me. But once you are inside this particular establishment, you'll to believe that claim, and here's why...
The museum consists of a whopping 120,000 toys and figures, of all shapes and sizes, for both the young and adult collectors.
There are also numerous statues of characters from various Hollywood Blockbuster movies, computer games, comics and TV series.
According to the owner, Mr. Loh Lean Cheng, based on my short conversation with him, whatever that visitors see inside the establishment, those are only 70% of what he has, and there are still 30% more waiting to be shifted in, mostly due to the lack of space.
He was inspired to start collecting toys after he visited a particular Toy Museum in the UK, fast forward 40 years later, the existence of this fantastic Toy Museum.
There are rows and rows of racks, consisting various toys and figurines you can think of: ranging from classic favorites such as G.I. Joes, Action Man, Star Wars, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe & Transformers, to the more recent Ben 10, Spongebob Squarepants and various anime/ Japanese-exclusive character figures.
On the side of the rooms, there are numerous statues of various characters from movies and games, some are 1:1 scale, while some are obviously way bigger.
The statues, mostly acquired directly from Hollywood ranges from movie characters such as King Kong, various characters from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars...
... to characters from animated features such as Pixar's Wall-E, Monster's Inc...
... to comic-based movie characters such as Batman, Jokers, Captain America, Superman, Hulk etc...
... to games and cartoon characters such as Optimus Prime, Gundam robots, Zelda, Lara Croft and many more.
Girls, sweat not, you are not forgotten, there loads of girl toys available throughout the museum ranging from dolls, Pullips, Barbies, plushies, you name them, they got them.
Star Wars fans rejoice, there are at least 20 racks-full dedicated solely to the franchise.
You will most likely find the stuffs that clicks with you there, and if you can't find them there, chances are you won't find them anywhere else.
Located, in Teluk Bahang (beside the SJK (C) Eok Hua school), the museum is about half an hour's drive from Georgetown and it is opened daily.
The best part, you can take all the photos you want in there.
